Common questions
Before you tap Order
What if my address isn't eligible?
DoorDash lets you request a delivery zone by emailing air-support@doordash.com. Wing has a waitlist for upcoming areas at wing.com/getdelivery. Amazon lets you check eligibility at amazon.com/dronedelivery.
What happens to my order in bad weather?
Drones ground themselves before people do. Wind above 20 mph (32 km/h), rain, lightning and low visibility all pause flights, and DoorDash generally only flies in daylight. If a flight can't go, you're not left waiting on a drone that never comes: Walmart holds or reroutes the order and refunds delivery fees if it can't be completed, and in Dallas-Fort Worth, Flytrex's DoorDash service switches to a ground courier automatically when weather grounds the drone. Because the weather that matters is at the delivery address, not just the forecast for your city, the app is the most current source. A single storm cell can pause flights in one part of a metro while deliveries continue a few miles away.
Do I need a house with a yard?
Not necessarily. Wing says its drones serve single-family homes, apartment buildings and commercial delivery zones. Each provider has its own rules for the exact drop point, so check when you order.
Is drone delivery more expensive?
It varies. Walmart+ members currently pay no fees on Walmart drone deliveries. Zipline's Texas fee is $0.99 plus a 20% service fee capped at $6. Amazon's fee depends on order size and Prime status. Always check the total at checkout.
Can I cancel?
At Walmart, yes, until the drone departs, and delivery fees are refunded. Other providers set their own rules, so check your order screen.
Who's in charge of the drones?
Commercial drone delivery needs FAA Part 135 air carrier certification. DoorDash Air earned it on July 29, 2026, becoming the eighth U.S. operator to do so.
